A Wafer Type Check Valve is a compact, lightweight, and highly efficient non-return valve designed to prevent backflow in pipelines. It is installed between two pipeline flanges and allows fluid to flow in only one direction, automatically closing when the flow reverses. The wafer design ensures minimal space requirement and easy installation compared to conventional flanged check valves. Wafer type check valves are widely used in water treatment, chemical processing, oil & gas, power plants, and general industrial applications where reliable backflow prevention and low pressure drop are essential.
The wafer type check valve operates automatically using the pressure of the flowing fluid. When the fluid flows in the correct direction, the disc opens allowing free passage of the medium. If the flow reverses, the disc quickly closes due to back pressure or spring action, preventing reverse flow and protecting pumps, compressors, and other equipment.
